Volleyball Adds Becky Porter for 2018 Season

BOONE, N.C. -- Appalachian State volleyball coach Matt Ginipro has announced that Becky Porter (Charlotte, N.C./Providence) has joined the Mountaineer program for the 2018 season.

Porter will join the Mountaineers after spending the last three seasons as a setter at North Carolina State.

In three seasons as a member of the Wolfpack, Porter appeared in 38 matches, tallying 560 total assists (6.02 a/s) and 153 digs (1.65 d/s).

During her junior campaign in 2017, Porter appeared in a career-high 20 matches, dishing out 155 assists (3.23 a/s). She also posted a career-high 84 digs (1.75 d/s), with a career-best 17 coming against Missouri State on August 26.

She posted her strongest season as a sophomore in 2016, recording a career-high 213 assists (8.88 a/s), including a single match career-high 57 against Florida State.

As a freshman, she averaged 9.14 assists per set, her highest average over her three seasons, while playing in a total of nine matches.

Ginipro's Comments: "Adding Becky to the roster this spring is huge for App State Volleyball.  She is a big, physical setter who will allow us to be more offensive in that position than we have been and was on a team that made it to the second round of the NCAA tournament this season. I know she's excited to jump right into our team culture in January and get going on the 2018 season."
