BOWL WEEK REPORT: Hospital Visit and Bowling Night

MOBILE, Ala. – Bowl week kicked into full gear Wednesday as the Sun Belt Champion Appalachian State Mountaineers get ready for their Dollar General Bowl matchup against MAC Champion Toledo.

Scott Satterfield's App State squad sandwiched an afternoon practice under the sunny southern Alabama skies between a morning visit to the South Alabama Children's and Women's Hospital and an evening full of bowling, arcade games and laser tag.

Not only that, but Wednesday was the first day of the new December signing period in which the Mountaineers added a whopping 23 new student-athletes to the fold who will try to help next year's squad advance to a fourth straight bowl and win a third straight conference crown.

The team's seniors enjoyed a memorable trip to the children's hospital to visit with kids and provide some holiday cheer in the morning.

App State and Toledo went head-to-head in a bowling challenge Wednesday night. With senior Brock Macaulay showing off impressive skills to lead the way, the Mountaineers put their best foot forward in the first "bowl" of the week. Results of the team competition are still being determined.

Thursday and Friday will be two more days full of bowl activities, followed by Saturday's 6 p.m. CT kickoff at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. To purchase or donate bowl tickets, please click here.
