HAYESVILLE, N.C. – Appalachian State University women’s golf finished the final round of the 2016 Bill Berg Invitational on Tuesday at the Ridges Country Club. The Mountaineers finished fourth for the tournament after shooting 911 (+47) for the tournament, just two stroked off second place host team Western Carolina.
Appalachian State shot 304 in the first round before carding a 307 and 302 in the second and third rounds, respectively.
Leading the pack for the Mountaineers was Hannah Craver, who finished tied-seventh with a tournament score of 225 after shooting a 79, 72, and 74 for the tournament to finish just nine over. Just behind her was Emily Stinson who finished three stroked back with a 228. Stinson shot a 76, 80 and 72 for the tournament to finish 12 over for the tournament (tied-15th).
Joliana Elias carded a final round 78 to finish with a tournament score of 229 (tied-17th), while Savanna Wood finished tied for 19th with a 231 final score after having a 74, 79, and 78 for the tournament.
Rounding out the team participants was Patricia Thompson who finished with a tournament score of 249 after shooting an 83, 82 and 84 during the event.
Playing as an individual for the Mountaineers, Annika Winebarger finished with a tournament score of 250 after shooting an 84 and 87 in the first two rounds before finishing strong in round three with a 79.
Appalachian State will move to play its final tournament of the 2016 fall schedule when it travels to participate in the 2016 Winthrop Fall Invitational in Rock Hill, S.C. The tournament will take begin on Saturday, Oct. 22 and finish up on Sunday, Oct. 23.
