ARLINGTON, TEXAS - Appalachian State University men's track and field finished Day 2 of the 2017 Sun Belt Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday at Maverick Stadium in Arlington, Texas. After seven scored events, the men sit eighth with 11 team points and qualified two for Sunday's finals.

Ryan Hastings snagged the automatic qualifying spot for the men's 800 meters winning his heat with a time of 1:50.55. In the 400-meter hurdles, Elliott Graves secured his spot in the finals finishing second in his heat clocking a time of 52.69.

In the 100-meter dash, William Buckley narrowly missed the qualifying spot finishing in ninth with a time of 10.67 and Antonio Marcano Jr. landed in 16th dashing through the finish line in 10.82.

In the 110-meter hurdles, Graves and Andrew Spear finished 10-11 respectively, and both turned in personal bests, and Josh Hanna ran a time of 48.82 in the 400 meters for 12th. Also, Jabari Johnson and Marcano finished ninth and 11th respectively in the 200 meters both turning in personal best performances.

In the final event of the evening, Jacob Sears ran a time of 10:10.79 in the 3,000-meter Steeplechase to place tenth.

In the field events, senior Ellsworth Parham snatched the bronze medal in the shot put with an outdoor personal best of 55-0 (16.76m), the seventh-best shot put mark in App State outdoor track history. Lastly, freshman Jordan Johnson earned his first Sun Belt points in the long jump leaping 23-04.75 (7.13m) for seventh place.

Men's track and field conclude Sun Belt Championship action tomorrow, May 14 at Maverick Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Field events start at 10 a.m. with the discus throw, and the running events will begin at 5:05 p.m. with the 4x100-meter relay.
