Apps Finish Ninth at Low Country Invitational

BLUFFTON, S.C. – Appalachian State fired the third-lowest round of the day (323) to climb three spots and finish ninth at the 2017 Low Country Invitational, which wrapped up on Sunday on the South Course at Moss Creek Golf Club.

The Mountaineers (+78) finished two shots back of Quinnipiac in ninth. High Point won the overall event (+62), three shots ahead of Gardner-Webb (+65). Seton Hall (+68) took third. Presbyterian’s Celia Mansour (+5) won the event by five strokes and was the only player to finish in single digits over par.  

“Still not the performance we are capable of, but we battled better today,” App State head coach Heather Brown said. “I’m looking for us to learn from our mistakes this week and head to Georgia ready to compete.”

Senior Hannah Craver (Winston-Salem, N.C.) was App’s top finisher, tying for sixth for a Top 10. She had three birdies during a 76 (+4) on Sunday.

Fellow senior Emily Stinson (Charlotte, N.C.) carded an 81 (+9) on Sunday to finish tied for 31st. Sophomore Jo Elias (Jamestown, N.C.) added an 83 (+11) to tie for 33rd.

Junior Savanna Wood (Boone, N.C.) finished 47th with two birdies during a solid back nine in Sunday’s final round 83 (+12).

Freshman Melany Chong (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) added an 85 (+13).  

App State returns to action next weekend the the John Kirk Panther Invitational in Stockbridge, Ga.
