BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University men’s track and field will host the Appalachian Indoor Open Split Track Meet in Boone on Friday, Feb. 17. The running events and horizontal jumps will be held at the Holmes Center, and the pole vault, high jump and throwing events will take place at Varsity Gym. The men’s pole vault will kick off the field events at 3 p.m., and the men’s 55-meter hurdles will follow the women’s hurdles at 3 p.m. on the track.

Last Time on the Track

Appalachian concluded action at the Samford Open on Saturday and grabbed 17 top-ten performance. Ryan Hastings highlighted the two-day meet winning his third 800-meter race of the season with a time of 1:52.68. In the 60-meter hurdles, Elliott Graves ran a millisecond off his personal best to place second (8.14), and Brandon Smith came in third with a time of 8.23. In the mile, Ian Foley and Evan Georges finished in third and fourth respectively both running personal bests of 4:14.62 and 4:14.73. In the 3,000 meters, Chris Anderson clocked a lifetime best of 8:21.33 to place third in the event and his time produced in Birmingham ranks second all-time in App State indoor history.

For the field events, Jordan Dale soared to second place in the high jump clearing the bar at 6-4.75 (1.95m), and both Tristian Shaver and Michael Utecht tied for second with a mark of 15-11 (4.85m) in the pole vault. In the circle, Nathan Milch tossed out the weight 56-10 (17.32m) to finish third, and Ellsworth Parham and Milch landed in third and fifth respectively in the shot put.
