BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State women's tennis (2-5) will look to build some momentum off of Saturday's road win this Thursday at 2 p.m. against USC Upstate in Spartanburg at the Upstate Tennis Complex.

The Mountaineers are coming off their first road win on Saturday against Radford, 6-1. App took two of three doubles matches and five of six singles contests. The duo of Melissa Machado and Rebecca Morse clinched the doubles point for Appalachian against the Highlanders, while Gabrielle Wreder clinched the singles point and the match for App.

Machado and Swope each have three wins to lead the Apps in singles competition. Megan Mullen has two triumphs with a 2-2 mark. In doubles play, Swope and McKayla Zupan boast a 4-3 record as the No. 2 duo. Megan Mullen and Wreder are 3-3 while Machado/Morse are 2-1. App is 9-8 in doubles play.

USC Upstate is 1-6 this season after a loss at UNC Wilmington. The Spartans' lone win came in a 5-2 triumph against Campbell. Carol Sigaki leads USC Upstate with three singles wins, and three student-athletes have two victories each. In doubles play, Filippa Ericson/Eduarda Ferreira are 2-1 while Vale Zarama and Sigaki are 2-2. 

App will head to Wake Forest on Saturday for a 3:30 p.m match in Winston-Salem.
