Appalachian State University volleyball will host two conference matches this weekend to end the 2016 regular season starting with a contest against Troy on Friday, Nov. 11 at 6:30 p.m. They will then play against South Alabama on Sunday, Nov. 13 at 12:30 p.m.

Friday night against the Jaguars will serve as senior night as the volleyball program honors its 2016-17 senior class.

SCOUTING THE JAGUARS
South Alabama enters Friday's match with a 15-12 overall record and a 6-8 mark in league play this season. The Jags are led by Mechell Daniel who has totaled 284 kills this season and 2.76 kills per set with a .274 attack percentage.

USA boasts four total players with over 200 kills this season. Iva Durdanovic (261, 2.69 k/s), Kristina Alabastro (212, 2.06 k/s) and Nikki Gittens (212, 2.04 k/s) round out the Jaguar attack. South Alabama has two who share the setter duties: Kellyn Reeves (467, 5.13 a/s) and Ashlyn Roberts (496, 5.11 a/s). Parker Harrell (4.87 a/s) and Emma Anderson (3.69 a/s) have also contributed.

Defensively, Abby Baker leads the way with 293 digs this season and 4.37 digs per set. Arissa Chappell has tallied 261 and has averaged 2.53 digs per set.

SCOUTING THE TROJANS
Troy currently is 9-22 this season with a 3-11 record in the conference. Sara Landis leads the way offensively for the Trojans with 260 kills and 2.34 kills per set. Symone Shaw has also posted over 2.00 kills per set (2.04) and has amassed 169 kills this season.

Reina Terry has led the Trojans all year as the starting setter with 805 total assists, while averaging 7.39 assists per set. Defensively, Alisha Hinrichs has posted 324 digs and has averaged 3.31 digs per set. Bethany Cullity averages 2.87 digs per set.
