BOONE, N.C. — Senior forward Stephen Chapman was named to the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) Academic All-District for his 3.63 GPA in his actuarial sciences degree, the association announced.

The All-District teams recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. The honorees are first divided into eight geographical districts across the U.S. and Canada. Then, the selected student-athletes advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot.

Chapman was in District 3, which includes student-athletes from North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. He joined players from Duke, North Carolina, NC State and Charlotte on the team.

On the field, Chapman has eight goals and two assists through 15 games and has scored a goal in three of his last four games. Currently, he ranks eighth in shots in the Sun Belt, fourth in points (18), tied-second in goals and tied for fourth in game-winning goals this season (two).

His last game came against No. 5 Charlotte on Nov. 1 when he launched a 25-yard laser into the back of the net to draw the match against the fifth-best team in the country.

The Mountaineers will look to close out the 2016 regular season on Saturday, Nov. 5 when they take on longtime conference rival Georgia Southern in Statesboro, Ga. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
