NEW ORLEANS - In the final rankings before NCAA regional competitions, Appalachian State University men’s cross country grab the 14th spot on the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Southeast Regional list after dropping out of the standings in week five’s rankings.

For the sixth time, App State stands as the only institution representing the Sun Belt Conference on the Southeast Regional list. Three ACC squads hold the top-three rankings for week six. Virginia snags the No. 1 spot, followed by NC State in second and Virgina Tech in third.

On Saturday, Oct. 29, the men finished fourth with 97 team points at the 2016 Sun Belt Conference Cross Country Championships in Dothan, Ala. Michael Ellis was the fastest Mountaineer of the afternoon sprinting past the tape in 25:17.20 to place 11th. Seconds later, Chris Anderson met the 8k finish line in 25:35. 60 to take 14th. Both Ellis and Anderson earned Third-team all-conference honors due to finishing in the top 15. Rounding out Apps’ top six were Jacob Sears in 16th (25:49.30), Andrew Vandenberg in 20th (25:57.40), Evan Georges in 36th (26:44.40) and Ryan Shannon in 42nd (27:08.90).
