Men's Tennis Heads to Charlotte for 49er Invite

BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University tennis concludes the fall slate in Charlotte, N.C. for the Charlotte 49ers Fall Invitational at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex.

Davidson, Bluefield, Troy, Georgia State, Winthrop, UNC Greensboro, UNC Asheville, Wofford, Duke, Clemson and host Charlotte will all participate in the event. Appalachian is set for five singles flights and five doubles flights.

"We want to go into the tournament and end on a strong note," said head coach Bob Lake. "We've played well this fall with a few student-athletes advancing far into the tournaments we have played in. I'm excited to see what we'll do this weekend in Charlotte."

In its most recent outing at the ITA Regionals in Durham, the Apps totaled eight victories (6 singles, 2 doubles), while Scott Webster led the bunch advancing to the Round of 16 in singles action. Webster defeated all three opponents in straight sets for a solid weekend.

Trey Morris, Milo Bargeron and Jack Maddocks also added to the solid performance with victories as well. Bargeron and Maddock also recorded a doubles triumph.

Appalachian will begin spring play on Jan. 21 against UNC Wilmington on the road.
