NEW ORLEANS, La. - Appalachian State University women's track and field thrower Brianna Tate was named to the all-academic team, announced by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association on Wednesday.

In order to qualify for the USTFCCCA Track and Field team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships during outdoor season. 

Tate won two shot put conference championships during the 2013-14 season, while maintaining a 3.63 GPA in her biology major. She participated in the NCAA regional preliminaries this May and is currently ranked third on the Appalachian all-time records list for the shot put.
