INDIANAPOLIS – Appalachian State University wrestling saw two of its student-athletes named to the 285-wrestler field that qualified automatically through the conference and regional tournaments during the past two weekends to wrestle in the NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships.

After being crowned conference champions in their respective weight classes, junior Dominic Parisi and redshirt-freshman Dylan Cottrell saw their names drawn during the all-day selection show by the NCAA wrestling committee.

Brackets revealed that Parisi, who won the Southern Conference title at the 125-pound weight class, will face off against 14th-seeded Edward Kilmara of Oklahoma State in the first round. This will be the second year that Parisi will start the tournament against a top-15 seed. Last year, he claimed a pair of victories by knocking off both the No. 5 and No. 12 seeds.

Cottrell will enter the tournament for the first time and holds a 12 seed at the 149-pound weight class. He will face James English of Penn State in the first round. Cottrell finished the season with a 26-1 record and have won 18 matches in a row. He enjoyed success this season by winning the SoCon freshman of the year award and going 3-0 in the conference tournament to take home first place.

Action from the Division I Wrestling Championhips will take place at Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City, Ok on March 20-22.
