BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State University women’s basketball is set to support the Kay Yow Cancer Fund on Saturday, Feb. 15 during its game against UNCG.

The Mountaineers will hold the annual Think Pink game in order to raise money for breast cancer research. All proceeds will go to Kay Yow Cancer Fund, created in honor of the former NC State women’s basketball coach and her fight with the disease.

Fans are welcome to the game free of charge with donations being strongly encouraged. There will also be many activities in which fans can participate in order to help the fight.

A silent auction will be available on the concourse as fans can bid on the players’ Think Pink warm up shirts as well as prizes donated by local High Country businesses.

Some of the big ticket items will include:

• A two night stay at the Appalachian White Fence Farm
• House carpet cleaning from RWM Construction and Restoration
• Two weekend snow tube passes from Hawksnest
• Two weekend zip line passes from Hawksnest
• Two private tutoring sessions from Hannah Reeder at High Country Academy
• Yoga Class at Boone Healing Arts

Check out the online auction in order to get a head start on bidding.

Treadmills will be set up around the arena as different Appalachian organizations will participate in the Race for the Cure. Pick up a pledge card on the concourse in order to donate for every mile run during the game.

Breast cancer survivors, nurses and doctors will be honored during halftime of the game. Amy Michael, a local breast cancer survivor, will be App State’s honorary coach and sit on the bench with the team as the Apps look for a victory against UNCG. Michael will also tell her story as the guest speaker during halftime.

The Mountaineers raised $4,000 during last year’s Play4Kay event and hope to surpass that amount this year.
