SPARTANBURG, S.C. - Appalachian State University men's cross country runner Kyle McFoy was named Southern Conference men's cross country runner of the week for his performance this past weekend, the league office announced Wednesday.
McFoy finished first for the Mountaineers and in tenth-place overall at the Blue Ridge Open on Friday, posting a time of 24:58.42 and recording the second-best time of an Appalachian runner in course history. McFoy's finish also helped lead the Apps to a team title in a pool of 28 teams.
The redshirt-sophomore from Newark, Del. has finished in either first-place (twice) or second-place (twice) for the Mountaineers in every race this season.
McFoy and the rest of the team's performaces last weekend have moved Appalachian's ranking up to 12th in the Southeast Region this week.
The Mountaineers will return to action on Nov. 2 for the Southern Conference Championships in Birmingham, Ala.
