BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University men’s cross country will travel to Swannonoa, N.C. on Saturday for the second annual UNC Asheville Invitational.

Appalachian will race against conference foes Western Carolina and Wofford, as well as Charleston Southern, Radford, Presbyterian, Gardner-Webb, Winthrop, Limestone and Lees-McRae.

The Mountaineers will depend on senior James Howard-Smith who finished in third-place overall and earned SoCon Runner of the Week honors, after running a 25.46 at the Covered Bridge Open on Aug. 30.

Junior Kyle McFoy finished sixth overall and second for the Apps with a time of 26:02.49, followed closely by junior Chris Garrett who finished tenth overall, posting a time of 26:15.24. 

The meet is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. Saturday at Asheville Christian Academy in Swannonoa, N.C.

Appalachian State will continue the season next weekend by traveling to the Winthrop Open in Rock Hill, S.C. on Sept. 21.
