BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State University women’s soccer will return to action on Sunday when it travels to High Point for an in-state clash.

The Mountaineers haven’t played since last Thursday when they blanked the UNC Asheville Bulldogs 2-0. Samantha Childress would score two goals to help secure the first shutout of the season for keeper Megan Roberson and Sarah Strickland’s squad. Roberson made two saves on the night. SCOUTING THE PANTHERS: High Point currently has an 0-4 record before entering a match tonight against Navy on the road. Thus far in 2013 the Panthers have scored two goals – Jill Graff and Kelli Joline have recorded the tallies for High Point.
The Panthers have played two different goalkeepers this season using both Jesse May and Ivy Cocklereece. May has recorded more playing time and has received three of the four decisions allowing 15 goals in three starts with 16 saves and a 5.34 goals against average.
App State currently holds the advantage over High Point in the all-time series with a 2-1 record. Both teams played last season, which saw the Panthers earn the first victory of the series with a 2-1 win.
