BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State University field hockey will take on Longwood in Farmville, Va. on Saturday for its first conference match of the 2013 season.

SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS

The Apps are fresh off of a 4-3 win against Vermont last weekend, making their record 1-2. 

App State saw scoring from sophomore Lindsay Amador, junior Jordyn Warren and sophomore Caroline Phillips on Sunday.  Phillips scored twice in the win against Vermont, including her first career-winning goal in the last three minutes of the match.  Last week’s play earned Phillips NorPac Offensive Player of the Week honors.

Sophomore goalkeeper Cristina Ceppi earned her first career start against Vermont, recording two saves and the win.

SCOUTING THE LANCERS

Longwood is off to a 1-4 start on the season after losing 2-4 to James Madison on Sept. 11.

The Lancers are led by senior Stacey de Grandhomme, who has recorded four goals and 21 shots this season.

Longwood has seen scoring from three players on its roster, with Kim Ruiter and Nicole Deckard both finding the net once.

Senior goalkeeper Kaye Goulding has seen action in four games, recording 20 saves and a .588 save percentage for the Lancers.

WHAT’S NEXT

The Mountaineers will have their first home match on Tuesday Sept. 17 against Davidson.
