BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State University men's golf finished up the first day of the Spring Hill Suites Invitational in Florence, S.C. on Monday.
The Mountaineers found themselves sitting in 10th place overall as a team after round one – shooting a score of 297 - before moving into eighth place after carding a 288 in the second round of the day.
Lee Mitchell matched his first round of 71 in round two, finishing the day tied for 12th. Patrick Moriarty improved by three strokes from the first round, firing a 72 in the second round to move himself into a tie for 33rd. Casey Komline was able to do one stroke better in round two with a score of 73 to join Moriarty in 33rd place. Eric Eberspeaker had the biggest improvement for App State, firing a 72 – eight strokes better than his round one tally – and moved up to a tie for 54th, whie Andrew Furr matched his round one total with a 77 in the second round and ended tied for 59th.
