RADFORD, Va. – Appalachian State University field hockey sophomore Caroline Phillips earned NorPac East offensive player of the week honors for her efforts in last week’s play, announced by the league Monday.

Phillips scored two goals and had four shots in the Mountaineers’ 4-3 win over Vermont on Sunday.

The Delmar, Delaware native scored her first goal at the 41:50 mark, beating the goalkeeper to the right.  With the match tied up in the last three minutes, Phillips found the back of the net again off of a penalty corner.  The goal would prove to be the game-winner as the Apps earned their first win of the 2013 season.

The Black and Gold will be back in action Sept. 14 when they travel to Farmville, Va. for their first NorPac match against Longwood at 12 p.m.
