BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State University field hockey will travel to Davidson, N.C. on Sunday to play Vermont in a neutral site match.

The Mountaineers will look for their first win of the season on Sunday after two losses in Harrisonburg, Va. last weekend.

Junior midfielder Dana Wetmore and junior forward Jessi Stuart notched one goal each for the Apps against Kent State last Sunday, in a 6-2 loss.  Sophomore forward Caroline Phillips leads Appalachian in shots after the first two matches, with 12.  Senior goalkeeper Sarah Anderson is averaging 17 saves after her first two starts of the season.

Scouting the Catamounts

Vermont is 0-2 so far for the 2013 season after finishing 2-16 overall last year.  The Catamounts lost their season opener to #19 Boston College 1-10 and had a 2-5 loss to Rutgers their last time out.

Vermont is lead by senior forward Colleen Slaughter who has scored two goals this season.  Senior goalkeeper Stephanie Zygmunt has started both games for the Catamounts this season, following a 2012 campaign in which she posted a 3.35 goals against average and a .757 save percentage.

Sunday will mark the first time in program history that App State and Vermont have met.

The Mountaineers will be back in action on Sept. 14 in Farmville, Va. where they will play their first conference match against Longwood.
