BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State University women's soccer begins its first road test of the season when it travels to Colorado for the Colorado College Invitational. The invite consists of the Mountaineers, the host Tigers, Southern Utah Thunderbirds and the Vermont Catamounts.
App State will play Colorado College on Friday and Southern Utah on Sunday.
Appalachian began its regular season last weekend at home when it hosted ETSU and Austin Peay. The squad defeated ETSU in the regular season opener 2-1 on goals by Julia Holz and Kebrina Keys. App State fell to Austin Peay by a 2-1 tally and the lone goal was attributed to Holz – her second goal of the season.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS: Colorado College comes into the weekend with an 0-2 start to the 2013 campaign. The Tigers fell to the University of Denver 2-1 in overtime and the Bison of Colorado 1-0 – both games were part of the Colorado Cup.
The Tigers are averaging 0.50 goals per game while giving up 1.50 per game.
Game time is 6 p.m. (EST).
SCOUTING THE THUNDERBIRDS: Southern Utah enters the weekend with a 1-1 overall mark this season. The T-Birds defeated UC Santa Barbara in their home opener by a score of 4-3 while losing its next game to California-Bakersfield on the road, 4-1.
The Thunderbirds are averaging 2.50 goals per game and allowing 3.50 per game.
