BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State women's tennis placed three players on the Southern Conference’s all-conference team, as voted on by the league’s coaches and announced by the league office on Tuesday, April 16.

Senior leader Ellie Linsell received a nod for first team all-SoCon honors after heading the Mountaineers in singles play with a 17-4 overall record, while 8-2 in the SoCon, at the top position.

Linsell currently ranks eighth on the Southern Conference's overall singles list (17-4, .810), while ranking No. 1 in the top position and placing second among conference-only No.1 singles leaders (8-2, .800).

Linsell’s all-conference honors are the second of her career. She was selected to the all-freshman and all-SoCon teams in 2010. She is considered to be one of Appalachian's all-time top women's tennis players.

Fellow senior Gabriela Celi was named as a second team all-SoCon selection after posting a 15-4 record overall and 8-1 in league play, primarily at the No. 6 slot.

Celi ranks second in the SoCon's overall No. 6 singles ranks (13-3, .812), while finishing first at the No. 6 position among SoCon-only singles leaders, and fifth in the conference-only singles rankings (8-1, .889).

Newcomer Clare Cox earned Freshman of the Year honors after going 15-7 on the season, with a 7-3 SoCon record. Cox, who also earned an all-freshman nod, ranks third and fourth, respectively, among the SoCon-only and overall No. 2 singles leaders list (7-3, .700; 14-7, .667).

With the selections of Linsell, Celi, and Cox to the all-conference team, Appalachian State has now had four different players selected to all-SoCon teams a total of six times.

SoCon champion College of Charleston earned three all-conference selections, along with head coach Angelo Anastopoulo earning SoCon Coach of the Year honors.

Appalachian State faces UNCG in the quarterfinals of the 2013 Southern Conference Tennis Championships at 9 a.m. on Friday, April 19.
