BOONE, N.C. — Appalachian State University baseball finally opens the home portion of its Southern Conference schedule this weekend when it hosts Wofford for a three-game series at Beaver Field at Jim and Bettie Smith Stadium. Game times are set for 4 p.m. Friday (note time change due to forecast for continued unseasonably cool evening temperatures), 3 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. on Easter Sunday.

Appalachian State (12-8, 4-4 SoCon) is hosting its first SoCon series of the season after playing its first three conference sets away from home. After splitting eight road games to open the SoCon slate, Appalachian will play five of its final seven conference series in the friendly confines of Smith Stadium.

With two of their last four scheduled games washed out by inclement weather, the Mountaineers have played just twice in the last 10 days. Prior to March 20, the Apps had not played fewer than four games during any 10-day span since the season opened on Feb. 15.

Due to last Sunday's rainout at College of Charleston and the postponement of Tuesday's scheduled home game versus UNC Asheville, Appalachian State ace Jamie Nunn (5-1, 2.36 ERA) will take the mound for the second time in three games. The right-handed sophomore leads the SoCon in wins and innings pitched (42.0) and also ranks among the league's top 10 in ERA (sixth), opponents' batting average (sixth - .229) and strikeouts (seventh - 39).

Wofford (12-14, 3-6 SoCon) rides a season-high-tying three-game winning streak into the High Country this weekend. The Terriers matched their longest winning streak of the season by taking the final two games of last weekend's SoCon series versus UNC Greensboro and winning a wild 12-11 decision at USC Upstate on Tuesday. However, they are just 2-7 in games played away from their Spartanburg, S.C. campus this season.

Appalachian State has won 13-straight games over Wofford dating back to 2008, including three-game sweeps in each of the last four series between the two clubs. Thanks in large part to their current 13-game winning streak, the Mountaineers hold a commanding 44-20 all-time advantage versus the Terriers.

All three games of this weekend's series can be seen live on GoASU TV. The Appalachian IMG Sports Network's radio broadcasts of the all three games can also be heard locally on WATA 1450 AM and worldwide at GoASU.com.
