BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University men's golf continues its spring break tournament schedule in Howey-in-the-Hills, Fla. for the Mission Inn Spring Spectacular hosted by George Mason University. This year's two-day event will be held at Mission Inn Golf Course.

The Mountaineers come off a seventh-place finish at the Bash at the Beach on Tuesday, as graduate student Daniel Walsh paced the Apps with a 3-under 210, a score that would earn him Southern Conference Golfer of the Week honors. Walsh became the first Appalachian golfer since 2010 to win the weekly award.

Senior Jay Brown and junior Casey Komline enter the weekend tournament having played in all 17 rounds this season as Komline carries a 73.35 stroke average, the seventh-best average in the conference.

Komline trails senior Josh Nichols, who withdrew at the Bash at the Beach after two rounds, for the best stroke average on the team. Nichols is currently sixth in the league with a 73.13 stroke average in 16 rounds.

There are 18 teams slated for this season's tournament, as the Mountaineers are the lone SoCon representative. Illinois headlines the field, as the Illini are rated No. 19 in the nation in the last GCAA Coaches' Poll release on Feb. 28.
