BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University women's track and field team will head to Blacksburg, Va. for the Virginia Tech Last Chance Meet on Saturday, March 2.

Junior Breanna Alston will run in the 200m dash after claiming the Southern Conference title in Winston-Salem last weekend. Alston crossed the line at 24.38 and has a personal-best time of 24.31 in the event and currently ranks second all-time for the Apps.

Senior Amanda Hamilton will pace the Mountaineers in distance as she will run in both the 3,000m event and the 5,000m event. The Cary, N.C. native finished third in the 3,000m run at the SoCon Championships, running a 9:53.38 and finished fourth in the 5,000m. Hamilton ranks second all-time for the Black and Gold in both events.

Junior Cassie Crawford will lead Appalachian in field events as she picked up a second-place finish in the pole vault at the SoCon Championships. Crawford jumped for 3.75m, while Audrey Diener place eighth overall in the event and will also travel to the Virginia Tech Meet. Crawford ranks third all-time for Appalachian in the pole vault.

The team will compete in hopes of qualifying for the NCAA Indoor Championships in Fayetteville Ark. on Friday, Mar. 8.
