BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State University women's basketball will look for a win to close out its two-game road swing against Southern Conference rival Samford on Monday. 

The Mountaineers (12-4, 6-2 SoCon) are coming off a heartbreaking 59-55 loss at Chattanooga on Saturday, but are looking to redeem against the Bulldogs (9-9, 6-3 SoCon), who lead the series 6-5.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
• Samford enters the contest coming off of a pair of losses against Davidson (51-63) and Chattanooga (60-66).
• The Bulldogs won four consecutive conference matchups against UNCG, College of Charleston, Georgia Southern, and Western Carolina. 
• In each of Samford's nine wins so far this season, the Bulldogs have held their opponent to under 50 points, including two games, allowing under 30 points.
• Nationally, Samford ranks 16 in scoring defense, and 23 in fied-goal percentage defense.
• The Bulldogs also rank among the top 50 (35) in three-point field goals per game and 53rd in three-point field goal percentage.
• Hannah Dawson ranks eighth in the conference in rebounding, averaging 7.1 boards per game, as well as fourth in defensive rebounds, averaging 6.1 per contest.
• Kendall Schwarz is the SoCon leader in three-point field goals, shooting 51.2 percent this season.

SERIES HISTORY 
• Appalachian State is 5-6 all-time against the Bulldogs.
• The two squads last met in the SoCon Championship on March 5, 2012, when the Bulldogs pulled out of a 54-43 victory over the Mountaineers. 
• App State won back-to-back regular season victories in both 2010-11 and 2011-12.
• The Bulldogs largest victory of 36 points against the Mountaineers happened on January 17, 2009, which is also when Samford scored the most points (87) against the Mountaineers. 

GLANCING AHEAD
• The Apps return home to host Elon on Feb. 2 at 12:30 p.m.
• The Mountaineers will return to the road to head to Georgia Southern for a Feb. 4. matchup.
