BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University women's track team travels to Lexington, Ky for the Kentucky Invitational on Friday, Jan. 25 at the Nutter Field House.

The Mountaineers come off a winning performance at the Mountaineer Open as they took home 11-of-12 first place finishes. Junior Breanna Alston had a record-setting day as she broke not only the indoor record in the 300m dash, but also the App State Holmes Center record and the Holmes Center record. Alston posted a 38.50, breaking her own record of 39.05 set in 2011 at the Appalachian Pre-Conference meet.

Alston picked up her second first place finish of the day when she ran a 7.03 in the 55m dash, while Breahna Morrison earned a first place finish in the 400m dash, running a 59.70.

Distance runners Shelby Howell and Amanda Hamilton each garnered first place finishes as Howell paced Appalachian in the 800m, crossing the line at 2:18.76 and Hamilton finished the mile in 5:10.79.

Kayla Schneider picked up the third first place finish in the distance races, as she crossed the line at 10:39.66 in the 3,000m run, while the 4x300m relay team won their second straight meet, finishing with a time of 2:54.33.

In field events, Appalachian earned all six first place finishes on the afternoon. Sophomore Tatyana Bryant jumped 5.51m in the long jump to earn first, while freshman Jamie Glenn garnered the first place finish in the triple jump with an 11.36m jump.

The Apps dominated in both the high jump and the pole vault, claiming the top-three spots in both events. In the high jump, Mary Theresa Montgomery posted a personal-best 1.65m, while senior Cassie Crawford earned the top spot in the pole vault, clearing 3.76m.

App State took the top-two places in the shot put, as Jasmine Suydam tossed a 13.59m and Ana DeLeon earned the first place finish in the weight throw with a 15.78m throw.

The Mountaineers will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 1 when they travel to Winston-Salem, N.C. for the JDL Invitational. The meet is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
