BOONE, N.C. - Head softball coach Shae Wesley released the 2013 slate on Monday afternoon, which will be highlighted with 20 games at Sywassink/Lloyd Family Stadium.

The Apps will kick off the 2013 campaign as they travel to Ft. Myers, Fla. on Feb. 15 for the LaQuinta Inn & Suites/FGCU Invitational Softball Tournament. App State will take on Southern Illinois at 9 a.m. and will meet defending national champions, Alabama, at 1:30 p.m. Tournament play continues on Saturday, Feb. 16 as they take on host, Florida Gulf Coast, at 1:30 p.m. and Wichita State in a night game at 8:15 p.m. The tournament concludes for Appalachian on Sunday, Feb. 17 when they faceoff against Wichita State at 11:15 a.m.

Appalachian State continues its stretch on the road as they travel to Spartanburg, S.C. on Tuesday, Feb. 26 to take on USC Upstate at 4 p.m. before heading to Florida for the second time of the season.

The Mountaineers will compete in the Florida State Renegade Classic on Friday, Mar. 1 when they take on Troy at 10 a.m. and Southern Miss at 4:30 p.m. The Apps will conclude round-robin play on Saturday, Mar. 2 when they play host, Florida State, at 12:15 p.m. and will kickoff tournament play later in the afternoon which will continue on into Sunday, Feb. 3.

Wesley and her team will open the 2013 Southern Conference schedule on Saturday, Mar. 9-10 when they travel to Cullowhee, N.C. to play Western Carolina in its first series of the season.

The Apps play its final leg of the 14-game road series when they play a double-header against Charleston Southern on Wednesday, Mar. 13 at 1 p.m.

App State opens its home slate on Saturday, Mar. 16-17 when they take on SoCon foe, Samford, followed by a non-conference double-header with Winthrop on Wednesday, Mar. 20 at 4 p.m. The Mountaineers conclude the week with a road trip to Chattanooga, who finished second in the SoCon last season, in a weekend series (Mar. 23-24).

The Mountaineers will face off against non-conference competition East Tennessee State at Sywassink/Lloyd Family Stadium on Tuesday, Mar. 26 and remain in Boone to take on College of Charleston in a weekend series (Mar. 29-30).

After the short homestand, the Apps will play back-to-back days on the road as they travel to Chapel Hill on Tuesday, Apr. 2 to play a single game against North Carolina at 5 p.m. and travel to Columbia, S.C. on Wednesday, Apr. 3 to take on South Carolina in a single game starting at 7 p.m.

Appalachian will play three straight conference weekend series, as it takes on Elon at home (Apr. 6-7), UNCG in Greensboro (Apr. 13-14) and Furman in Boone (Apr. 20-21).

App State rounds out its non-conference schedule as it takes on North Carolina A&T at home (Apr. 24), Auburn on the road (Apr. 27) and Radford in their final home games of the season (May 1).

The Mountaineers hit the road one last time to conclude its 2013 regular season schedule when they play their final weekend series against defending SoCon champions, Georgia Southern (May 4-5).

The Southern Conference Softball Tournament is set for May 8-11 in Greensboro, N.C.

Wesley returns nine players from the 2012 roster, including three players who earned all-SoCon honors. After finishing fifth in the Southern Conference in 2012 the Mountaineers look to compete for a higher finish in the 2013 season, as they put together a 22-25 overall record and a 9-13 mark in the SoCon.
