BOONE, N.C. - For the second-straight day, Appalachian State University football wrapped up its practice with an intrasquad scrimmage on Thursday at Kidd Brewer Stadium.

After holding a 38-play scrimmage on Wednesday afternoon, Appalachian wrapped up its seventh day of fall camp with a 43-play scrimmage on Thursday. Like Wednesday, Thursday's scrimmage featured impressive performances on both sides of the ball.

The Mountaineer offense amassed 210 yards in 43 plays on Thursday afternoon, good for 4.9 yards per snap, but ASU's defense held its offensive counterparts scoreless on 8-of-10 series.

Appalachian rushed for 131 yards on 31 carries and completed 6-of-12 passes for 79 yards on Thursday. Senior running back Cedric Baker Boney led the charge on the ground with 58 yards on just 10 carries while junior-college transfer Steven Miller chipped in with 38 yards on 10 rushes and senior Travaris Cadet added 23 rushing yards on just three attempts.

As was the case on Wednesday, senior wide receiver Brian Quick was the star of the aerial attack, hauling in two passes for 46 yards, including a 27-yard catch from Jamal Jackson that accounted for the only touchdown of the scrimmage. The only other points came on a 39-yard field goal by sophomore place kicker Drew Stewart, a transfer from Marshall.

Walk-on freshman defensive back Drew Davies turned in the play of the day on defense when he leveled running back Michael Frazier, causing Frazier to fumble after a nifty 10-yard run. The fumble was recovered by Dominique McDuffie for the defense's only takeaway of the day.

Juniors Brandon Grier, Jeremy Kimbrough, Justin Lloyd, John Rizor and Troy Sanders and freshmen Ronald Blair, Thomas Bronson and James Robinson were all in on tackles for loss while senior Ed Gainey and junior Lanston Tanyi both broke up passes.

Appalachian opens the second week of camp with two practices on Friday.
