Career: Ranked third in Appalachian State history with 226 punts and 9,397 punting yards … ranked sixth in school history with a 41.6-yard punting average … was named Southern Conference Special Teams Player of the Week seven times, good for the third-most SoCon Player-of-the-Week awards in school history, behind only Appalachian State Hall-of-Famers Dexter Coakley (8) and Richie Williams (8) … became only the second specialist in Appalachian State history to be selected in the NFL Draft, joining Harold Alexander (third round, 67th overall, Atlanta Falcons, 1993).

2011: Earned second-team all-Southern Conference accolades despite battling a nagging groin injury throughout the campaign … finished fourth in the SoCon and 27th nationally in punting average (40.9 ypp) … began the season as the team’s punter and place-kicker but fatigue from handling both duties along with the groin injury caused production to slip in both areas midway through the campaign … the emergence of Drew Stewart as a top-notch place kicker allowed Martin to focus exclusively on punting for the second half of the season … turned in perhaps the team’s best individual performance in the season-opening loss at Virginia Tech, averaging 45 yards over eight punts, including two kicks of 50 yards or more and two downed inside the 20 … named SoCon Special Teams Player of the Week for effort in the season opener at Va. Tech … punted just once in the home opener against North Carolina A&T but it was a 69-yard bomb, good for his longest of the season and a tie for eighth-longest in school history … also booted a 51-yard field goal, good for a tie for the seventh-longest in program history, in the win over N.C. A&T … turned in third-straight spectacular performance to open the season versus Savannah State, punting five times for a 47.0-yard average with two fair catches, two kicks of 50 yards or more and three downed inside the 20 yard line … was also perfect on two field-goal attempts, including his second 51-yarder in as many weeks … was named national and conference Special Teams Player of the Week for the performance against SSU … averaged a 42.4 yards over seven punts with a 63-yarder, two fair catches and one downed inside the 20 the following week against No. 13 Chattanooga but missed a 25-yard field goal in the 14-12 win … place-kicking struggles continued the next week against Wofford when he missed three field goals (33, 52 and 33 yards) in a 28-14 loss to the eighth-ranked Terriers … low point of the campaign came two games later against Samford when he averaged just 37.2 yards per punt and missed his fifth-straight field-goal attempt from 28 yards out in the first quarter of a 35-17 win … after the first quarter miss against Samford, the still-present groin ailment forced ASU coaches to turn place-kicking duties over to Stewart, allowing Martin to focus exclusively on punting for the rest of the season … move paid immediate dividends when Martin averaged 40 yards over seven punts in 24-17 win over No. 1 Georgia Southern the next week … boomed his only punts for 51 and 39 yards with both being fair caught in win over Western Carolina … turned in a spectacular performance in the regular-seasion finale against Elon by downing two of his six punts inside the 20 and also letting loose with a 54-yarder — his longest since the fourth game of the season — in the Apps’ 28-21 come-from-behind win … downed two more kicks inside the 20 and had another 50-yarder in season-ending loss to Maine.

2010: Played in all 13 games, booting 60 of ASU’s 61 punts on the season (with a quick kick by quarterback DeAndre Presley accounting for the only other punt) ... ranked fourth in the Southern Conference with a 39.2-yard average ... however, 31 of his 60 punts were fair caught (51.7 percent), 19 were downed inside the opponent’s 20 yard line (31.7 percent) and only nine were able to be returned at all (15 percent) ... in all, his net average of 37.0 yards per punt was only 2.2 yards less than his gross average ... averaged over 40 yards per punt in six times in 13 games ... had seven punts of 50 yards or longer ... downed at least one punt inside the 20 yard line in 11-of-13 games ... was twice named the SoCon Special Teams Player of the Week — after downing 3-of-7 punts inside the 20 yard line in a win at Samford and after averaging 43.7 yards per kick with four fair catches and two downed inside the 20 in a win over Furman ... averaged 45 yards per punt with two 50-yarders in regular-season finale at Florida ... despite a snow-covered field and blustery conditions, averaged 39.3 yards per punt with two fair catches and a 50-yarder in postseason-opening triumph over Western Illinois ... averaged a season-high 46 yards per kick — thanks in large part to a season-best 63-yarder — and downed two kicks inside the 20 in season-ending loss to Villanova ... handled kickoffs for the first four games of the year and averaged 65.5 yards per kick (with the ball being received on average at the opponent’s four yard line) ... had three touchbacks in four games before relinquishing the kickoff duties over to senior place kicker Jason Vitaris ... earned academic all-SoCon recognition for achievements on the field and in the classroom.
