Johnson will join the Black and Gold after helping capture a 3-A state championship last season at Providence Day. Helping anchor the post, Johnson averaged 11.5 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.3 steals per game last season, while also shooting 55.0 percent overall from the floor. As a senior, he was named second-team all-conference. In his four years on varsity, he won 103 games with nearly an 85.0 percent win percentage, including 30 wins this year - a school record. Johnson helped lead his team to its first state title since 1999 and an appearance in Dick’s Sporting Goods High School Nationals in New York City, which was also televised on ESPN networks.

Johnson was named South Charlotte Weekly's Track and Field Athlete of the Year.
