After 44 years in the Southern Conference, former FCS heavyweight Appalachian State leaped to the FBS last year. A 1–5 start gave way to an epic 6–0 finish, and with 20 returners (the most in the nation), the Mountaineers should prove that last year's strong second half was no fluke.
