BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State University men's soccer returns to the pitch at Appalachian Soccer Stadium on Tuesday evening for a conference battle with the Wofford Terriers. Kick off is set for 7 p.m.
The game on Tuesday night is a “Pack the Mack” night and Appalachian State is looking to have a big crowd on hand. The all-time attendance record at Appalachian Soccer Stadium was set on November 11, 2011 in the Southern Conference semifinals against UNCG. 1, 111 people came out to watch the beautiful game that night.
The Mountaineers are coming off of a tough game against those Spartans of UNCG on Saturday night. App State lost 2-1. Matthew Melton scored the only goal of the game for the Apps off of an assist from Jordan Melia with just over one minute to go in regulation.
SCOUTING THE TERRIERS: Wofford comes into the match on Tuesday at 7-4-1 overall, including a 3-0-0 mark in the Southern Conference. Connor Davis leads the team offensively having scored 20 points this season. Davis has eight goals and four assists. Matthew Aurednik has three goals and four assists for ten points and ranks second on the team in the points category. Garrett Closs has received the majority of the playing time in goal and sports a 4-4 record. Closs has 27 saves and is averaging 1.71 goals against in nine matches. Joe Wichmann is 3-0-1 this season in net and has six saves and three goals against in five matches.
