One bright spot in an otherwise gloomy season-opening game for Appalachian State was the performance of inside linebacker John Law.

Law, a 6-0, 225-pound redshirt freshman from Atlanta who made his first start at Montana last weekend, had a team-leading 12 tackles and a sack in the 30-6 loss. He also had a highlight play when he stopped running back Jordan Canada for no gain on fourth and 1 at ASU 19-yard line, ending a scoring threat on Montana’s first possession.

It was a big hit, and so was Law.
