BOONE, N.C. –– Appalachian State University volleyball and head coach Matt Ginipro announced the addition of Sydney Hinds to the 2017 roster on Friday.
Hinds, a defensive specialist, recently transferred from UAB to Appalachian State and will be eligible for her junior season this upcoming fall for the Mountaineers 2017 campaign.
Hinds appeared in 30 matches in 2016, seeing action in 105 sets. She finished third on the team with 203 digs and posted a career-high 14 digs against Sun Belt foe Troy and also against Memphis.
As a freshman, Hinds made 18 appearances and played in 31 sets. She started one match against Gardner-Webb and for the season totaled two kills, four assists, eight service aces and 32 digs.
Hinds graduated from Heritage High School in Wake Forest, N.C. and totaled 1,818 digs, averaging 7.1 digs per set as a junior and senior. She earned first-team all-conference honors as a junior and senior and second-team honors as a freshman and sophomore.
She was named Heritage High School Female Athlete of the Year three years in a row from 2012-14.
