Apps Wrap Up Play at Sun Belt Championships

SANDESTIN, Fla. – Appalachian State sophomore Alex Burris (Greensboro, N.C.) tied for 28th to lead the Mountaineers at the 2017 Sun Belt Championships, which concluded on Monday at Raven Golf Club. Burris eagled the par-5 eleventh hole as part of his round of 74 (+3) to finish the week at 8-over par.  

Troy (+3) grabbed the top seed in tomorrow's match play, followed by Georgia Southern (+12), Arkansas State (+20), and Georgia State (+20) in the four-team playoff. App (+47) fired a 298 in the final round and couldn't close the gap on the rest of the field.

Senior Patrick Moriarty (Rockville, Md.) closed out his career with a 75 (+4) with a slow start, but a birdie on his fifth hole helped him play the final 14 holes at 1-over.

Freshman Noah Schneider (Jackson, Miss.) finished with a 76 (+5) after opening his round with eight consecutive pars. He finished tied for 40th in his first championship appearance. 

Freshman Tripp Summerlin (Summerfield, N.C.) closed out his first championship with a 79 (+8).

Freshman Walter Brinker (Sanford, N.C.) carded back-to-back birdies on his fourth and fifth holes to close with App's low final round, a 2-over 73.
