DURHAM, N.C. –– Appalachian State University women's track and field finished up day one of the Duke Invitational on Friday. The Mountaineers posted four top-five finishes on the day.
Chelsey Hargrave posted a third-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 19-7.00. Darlene Girardeau took fifth and finished with a jump of 19-4.25. Ila Mumford finished in 20th and K'Lynn Beal took 25th with jumps of 17-9.75 and 17-6.25, respectively.
Hargrave posted a time of 12.39 i the 100-meter dash to take 35th.
In the pole vault, Hannah Emery placed third with a vault of 11-9.75, while Sofia San Miguel took ninth with a height of 11-3.75.
Erin Jameson finished third in the 10,000-meter race with a time of 39:44.08.
In the 800-meter run, Phylissa Greeley finished 11th with a time of 2:13.90, while Torre Moser finished 15th with a time of 2:15.65. Sarah Venable placed 30th in the same race with a time of 2:18.31.
Kerry Leonard finished 15th in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:16.85, while Natalie Kile came in 28th, finishing with a time of 18:45.25.
In the hammer, Samantha Welborn finished 16th with a throw of 158-1.00. Welborn also finished 18th in the javelin with a throw of 113-6.00.
Imani Chapman placed eighth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.17. Taylor Drummonds finished 15th in the same race, finshing with a time of 14.54.
