BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University men's tennis (11-7) aims to get back on the winning track on Monday against Gardner-Webb at Stadium Courts. First serve is at 2 p.m.
The Mountaineers haven't played since April 2nd in a 4-1 setback to Georgia Southern. App is 8-2 in its last 10 matches after starting the season 3-5 and has two more matches left in the season before the Sun Belt Tournament in New Orleans.
Four Mountaineers have at least 11 wins in singles play en route to a 56-38 (.596) mark. Scott Webster, who was recently named the sixth-best Australian men's tennis athlete, leads the team with a 12-4 mark. Jack Maddocks is 11-6 and Trey Morris is 11-6, while Milo Bargeron is 11-5. Bargeron's 11 wins are the most for a freshman since Webster won 18 two seasons ago.
Bargeron and Webster leads a doubles contingent that boasts a 29-18 (.617) record with an 8-2 record. Maddocks and Morris are 7-2 while Alex Brea and Alex Pavkovich are 5-5. Bargeron leads the Mountaineers with 12 doubles victories overall.
Gardner-Webb is 11-11 this season while on a three-match win streak after a 4-3 in its most recent outing against Campbell last Tuesday.
Maximillian Scholl leads the Runnin' Bulldogs in singles play as the No. 1 with a 16-3 record. Scholl has won his last eight matches. Breno Plentz and Ross Gilbert both have 10 wins to round out GWU. The Runnin' Bulldogs are 64-56 (.533) overall. In doubles play, Paul Hogan and Johan Fors lead the way with six wins.
App will conclude the regular season on Saturday against Davidson at 1 p.m. The Mountaineers will honor Morris and Maddocks on Senior Day in their last home match.
