BOONE, N.C. – Appalachian State Athletics has secured the largest cash gift, to date, in support of A Mountaineer Impact, A Drive for Excellence, Director of Athletics Doug Gillin announced on Friday. 

The anonymous $1 million gift provides critical resources in support of the core goals of A Mountaineer Impact; competitive excellence, facility enhancements, and the funding of scholarships. A portion of the overall commitment will be dedicated to the new Kidd Brewer Stadium scoreboard and ribbon displays. This gift continues the momentum for App State athletics since launching the initiative in February. 

“This is a historic gift for Appalachian State Athletics and will have a lasting impact,” Gillin said. “This financial commitment will serve as a foundation for our initiative and another catalyst as we continue to see tremendous support for the future of App State Athletics. We are grateful for the continued generosity of our donors. This is another example of the excitement around this program's potential, and we'll continue to work hard to get others involved."

The new videoboard and scoreboard at Kidd Brewer Stadium was announced in February and will be ready for the 2017 season, improving another element of what is already one of college football's best game day experiences.

"Gifts like this will help us grow our facilities, which are large part of our program's foundation. It's exciting to think about what the future holds at Appalachian State.
