Men's Tennis to Host Four-Straight Matches

BOONE, N.C. - After 12-straight matches on the road, Appalachian State University men's tennis (9-6) returns to action at home with four home matches in a row at Boone Courts behind Kidd Brewer Stadium.

Due to the incoming weather this Friday, App State could play outside or at Deer Valley Racquet Club against UNCG.

The Mountaineers had 15 days off after a 6-1 stretch and a current three-match win streak. In the most recent outing, the Mountaineers dealt Oral Roberts a 4-1 win in Daytona. Appalachian has outscored its opponents 14-2 in the three victories. Scott Webster is on a seven-match win streak in singles and has won his last four doubles contests with Milo Bargeron. Webster hasn't lost in singles since Feb. 19 and is a team-best 11-3 this season. 

Bargeron is also playing exceptionally well, as the freshman has triumphed in his last six singles contests en route to a 9-4 record. Jack Maddocks is second on the team with a 10-5 record and winner of his last three matches. App is 28-9 in singles play over the last seven matches and is 49-32 (.605) overall. Bargeron and Webster are 6-1 along with Maddocks and Trey Morris, who are also 6-1 this season. The two duos combined for a 12-2 record, which is half of the 24 doubles wins. 

Scouting UNC Greensboro (6-7)
The Spartans snapped a four-game slide after a 6-1 win in their most recent outing over The Citadel. Connor Thompson leads the Spartans in singles play with a 10-2 mark as the No. 1 in the lineup. Marcus Vidgren is second on the team with eight victories, while UNCG is 34-43 (.442) overall. In doubles play, Thomas and Vidgren lead the team with the best winning percentage at 5-1 (.833). Thompson is also 4-0 with William Albright. Warren Bryan and Logan Walker also have five wins. The Spartans are 22-14 (.611) in doubles competition.

Scouting USC Upstate (5-12)
The Spartans are 1-3 in their last four matches heading into the contest on Saturday. USC Upstate is 1-11 away from its home court. Ignacio Garrido is 11-5 in singles action to lead the Spartans, while Francisco Neto is second with nine wins. USC Upstate is 42-60 overall in singles. Fernando Benardes and Garrido lead the team with eight doubles triumphs. 

Scouting Georgia Southern (15-10)
Appalachian's archrival is on a three-match slide and will play No. 37 Georgia State and UNCG before arriving to the High Country. The Eagles are the first Sun Belt opponent of the season for Appalachian. GASO is 0-2 in Sun Belt play. 

Scouting Gardner-Webb (8-11)
The Runnin' Bulldogs have won four of their last six matches. GWU will play Belmont Abbey and Longwood before the match on Monday against App State. Maximillian Scholl leads GWU with a 13-3 record as the No.1  in the lineup and has won his last five matches. Ross Gilbert and Breno Plentz have nine and eight wins, respectively. Two duos in Scholl/Paul Hogan and Hogan/Johan Fors lead doubles with five wins.

App will conclude the regular season on Senior Day against Davidson on Saturday, April 15 at 1 p.m.
