Hastings Tops Program's 800-Meter Run Mark

COLUMBIA, S.C. –– Appalachian State University men's track and field wrapped up the Weems Baskin Invitational at the University of South Carolina on Saturday.

 

The Mountaineers were led by Ryan Hastings who broke the program record in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:49.42. With that finish, Hastings placed third in the race.

 

Michael Flanagan won the 3,000-meter race with a time of 8:40.39, while Jacob Sears took fourth in the 1,500-meter run invite race with a time of 4:01.54. In that same race, Evan Georges placed fifth with a time of 4:02.79, while Collin Loy finished seventh with a time of 4:05.02.

 

In the 400-meter hurdles, Elliott Graves finished eighth with a time of 54.15, while Brandon Smith took 11th with a time of 54.54. Andrew Spear finished in 25th with a time of 57.78.

 

Graves finished 16th in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.85. In that same race, Spear finished 25th, while Smith took 27th with times of 15.26 and 15.37, respectively. 

 

Appalachian's 4x100-meter relay team consisting of Antonio Marcano Jr., William Buckley, Jordan Johnson and Graves finished seventh with a time of 41.33.

 

Jordan Dale claimed second-place in the high jump with a height of 6-8.00 feet. Phillip Thomas finished second in the pole vault and Michael Utecht took fifth with vaults of 16-4.75 feet and 15-5.00 feet, respectively. 

 

In the shot put, Ellsworth Parham took seventh with a throw of 53-4.50 feet and Nathan Milch took ninth with a distance of 52-2.00 feet.

 

Daniel Lauffenburger took fifth and Nick Hinton finished seventh in the 'B' group of the high jump with heights of 6-2.00 feet and 6-0 feet, respectively. Nicolas Botett and Michael Albert claimed eighth and ninth in the 'B' group of the shot put with distances of 47-4.25 feet and 47-0.75 feet, respectively.

 

Milch took third in the 'B' group of the discus with a throw of 146-8.00 feet, while Peter Kenn, Botett and Albert finished in eighth, ninth and 11th-place. Kenn threw a distance of 139-2.00 feet, while Botett and Albert finished with 138-6.00 feet and 135-4.00 feet, respectively.

 

Sean Doyle won the 'B' group of the 800-meter run with a time of 1:58.45.

 

The Mountaineers' 4x400-meter relay team consisting of Smith, Josh Hanna, Spear and Hastings finished seventh with a time of 3:18.53.
