Apps Set to Host Bash at The Beach in Myrtle Beach

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Appalachian State opens play at the Bash at the Beach on Monday at the Surf Golf and Beach Club in North Myrtle Beach. The 16-team field will play 36 holes on Monday and follow with Tuesday's final round as the Mountaineers host each of the next two weekends.

App State competes for the first time since finishing eighth at the Stetson Invite last month, but the event was more about what could have been. The Mountaineers were within striking distance of a top three finish before a rough final nine took its toll.

Freshman Tripp Summerlin is coming off his best collegiate finish, taking 15th in Florida. He was in contention at 1-under after 36 holes and had nine birdies in his first two rounds. As a team, App State had 39 birdies which put it well in the top half of the field, but big numbers proved costly over the course of the event.

Play begins Monday with 36 holes and concludes on Tuesday morning with the final rounds.

App is the only Sun Belt team in the field this week. Three Horizon Conference schools along with High Point, Jacksonville State, and George Washington highlight this week's field.
