BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University women's tennis (4-10) will look to end the week at 1-1 on Saturday when it takes on Gardner-Webb on Saturday at 12 p.m. in Boiling Springs, N.C. at GWU Tennis Courts.
App is coming off a 6-1 setback to Grand Canyon on Senior Day in its most recent outing. Rebecca Morse was the lone Mountaineer with a point, picking up a win as the No. 2 in the lineup. Taylor Bygrave and Melissa Machado notched a victory in doubles to improve to 2-0 as a tandem.
Despite her seven-match win streak falling on Thursday, Bygrave still leads the team in singles play with a 7-4 mark and is 3-0 in doubles this season, equaling a 10-4 record. Megan Mullen and Heidi Swope both have five wins apiece while Morse and Machado's four wins are tied for the third most.
In doubles play, Swope and McKayla Zupan have posted a team-high six victories thus far. The tandem has already surpassed last season's team-high in wins at five and is the most since 2015.
Gardner-Webb is 8-13 this season after defeating UNC Asheville on Thursday, 4-3. The Runnin' Bulldogs are 5-1 at home this season and have won their last five home contests. Three different student-athletes have notched at least 10 wins under their belt with all 10-11 marks.
In doubles action, Sara Rieckmann and Stina Magnusson lead the team with a 15-5 mark. Mary Walker Mixon and Rokia Sacko have 13 wins as a pairing.
