Women's Tennis Set for Two Matches this Weekend

BOONE, N.C. - Coming off a six-match road trip, Appalachian State University women's tennis (3-6) will host Lipscomb (1-7) in a 4 p.m. contest at Deer Valley Racquet Club before turning around for an 11 a.m. match at Davidson on Saturday.

The Mountaineers finished 2-4 on the road trip but went 2-2 in the last four matches. App played two-straight ACC opponents including No. 3 North Carolina most recently on Tuesday.

Taylor Bygrave has won four-straight matches in singles play to improve to 4-3. Bygrave was the lone Mountaineer to grab wins against both Wake Forest and the Tar Heels. She joins Melissa Machado and Heidi Swope as one of three student-athletes with four victories. 

In doubles play, Swope and McKayla Zupan continues to lead the team with five wins while Mullen and Gabrielle Wreder (3 wins) and Machado/Rebecca Morse (2 wins) follow suit.

Scouting Lipscomb (1-7)
Lipscomb is 1-7 and currently on a five-match losing streak following a recent setback at Tennessee. The Bison's only win came against Belmont on the road.

Scouting Davidson (5-2)
The Wildcats have won two of their last three matches but are coming off a 5-2 defeat at Elon. Davidson has played well at home this season with a 4-0 mark. Alexandra Abele leads the Wildcats in singles play with a 6-1 record. Davidson is 25-16 in singles play. In doubles action, Davidson is 13-5 led by three duos with at least three teams. Abele and Ava Todd have yet to lose at 6-0. 

App will play two-straight home matches beginning on Saturday, March 4 at 1:30 p.m. against North Carolina Central.
