About the Mountaineers

Last Time Out
App State suffered a 54-41 setback to South Alabama on Saturday in Mobile. Appalachian shot just 20.9 percent, hit one trifecta and was outscored by the Jaguars by 18 in the final quarter. Madi Story and Ashley Bassett-Smith both tied their career highs with 12 rebounds, and Story scored 10 points for her team-leading fifth double-double of the year.

Did you Know
After recording four assists for the fourth-straight game at South Alabama, Joi Jones is now one of seven players in program history to be ranked in the top 20 in scoring (1,112 points) and top 10 in assists (275).

What to Watch for
• In two home games against the Cajuns, the Apps have held Louisiana to 55 points per game on 36.1 percent shooting from the field and just 14.3 percent shooting from beyond the arc. See if App's defense can slow down the hot Louisiana squad.

• The Mountaineers' three leading scorers in Story (13.3), Jones (13.0) and Q. Murray (10.8) have performed better at home this season, as the trio average a combined 39.0 points per game compared to 34.5 ppg on the road. Anticipate Story, Jones and Murray to have big outings on Thursday.

• App tied a season low with just one 3-pointer made against South Alabama on Saturday. Expected that number to be higher for the Apps, as they have averaged seven trifectas in the last two home games.

• Story, over the last four games at home, is averaging 18.3 points, 6.8 rebounds and an impressive 61.7 effective field goal percentage after shooting 46.8 percent from the field and 58.3 percent from beyond the arc. Expect the junior to continue her all-conference type of play.

•  In nine of the Apps' 10 wins this season, they have came away with at least 10 second-chance points. Appalachian grabbed an impressive 22 offensive rebounds, snagging 41.5 percent of its missed shots against South Alabama, but only came away with eight points. See if App can take advantage of the extra opportunities.
