BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University men's tennis (3-5) looks to halt its four-game skid in a pair of 12 p.m. matches against Wofford (8-3) on Saturday and Winthrop (0-5) on Sunday.
App is coming off a 0-2 weekend falling to Campbell (5-2) and Coastal Carolina (6-1). Scott Webster and Trey Morris both notched singles victory to give App its two points against the Camels. Against the Chanticleers, the Mountaineers picked up a doubles win thanks to Webster/Milo Bargeron's 6-0 win as the No. 1 duo, and Jack Maddocks was the only student-athlete to pick up a singles triumph.
Maddocks paces the Apps in singles action with a 5-3 mark while Morris and Webster each have four wins under their belt. App State is 21-23 this season in singles competition.
In doubles action, Milo and Bargeron are 3-1 to lead the way for an App squad that is 11-11 thus far.
Scouting Wofford (8-3)
The Terriers are a perfect 7-0 at home this season and currently on a four-match win streak. Wofford most recently dealt Greenville a 5-2 setback. Wofford is 37-24 (.607) in singles play this season. Lucas Cerbelli has an 8-2 mark as the No. 2 in singles action. Cerbelli is one of six student-athletes with at least five wins. Julian Chousa/Haris Poric lead the Terriers in doubles competition with a 7-1 record, pacing Wofford to an 18-9 (.667) showing.
Scouting Winthrop (0-5)
Winthrop has yet to pick up a win this season but has played the likes of Clemson, VCU and Davidson.Diego Quiroz has the only win for the Eagles in singles play so far, while Winthrop has yet to come away with a doubles triumph.
Appalachian will play North Carolina on Thursday at 3 p.m. in Durham, N.C. in its next matchup.
