BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University women's tennis (3-5) goes for its third-straight win at Wake Forest (8-2) on Saturday at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Appalachian is coming off its second-straight win over USC Upstate, 5-2. Four different Mountaineers have won two-straight single matches while Melissa Machado improved to 4-3 on the year. Heidi Swope also has four victories on the year, and Megan Mullen is right behind with three wins under her belt.
After starting 0-3, Taylor Bygraveappears to be righting the ship with a pair of wins in two contests.
In doubles play, the Apps are 11-9 thus far through eight matches. Swope and McKayla Zupan are 5-3, already matching last season's win total for the top tandems. Megan Mullen and Gabrielle Wreder are 3-3 followed by Rebecca Morse and Machado's 2-2 record.
Wake Forest is 8-2 this season with a 4-0 record at home. The Demon Deacons have won their last five matches going into Saturday's contest. WF is 30-7 in singles play this season while owning a 14-8 record in doubles action.Six student-athletes have at least four victories with four recording five wins.
In doubles play, three tandems boast four wins and a pair with five victories under their belt.
The Deacons are the first of back-to-back matches against ACC opponents, as North Carolina awaits on Tuesday for a 1:30 match in Chapel Hill.
