BOONE, N.C. - Appalachian State University women's basketball (8-13, 3-7 SBC) closes the weekend in search of the season sweep over Arkansas State (5-17, 3-7 SBC) on Saturday at the Convocation Center in Jonesboro, Ark. Tip is set for 4 p.m. (ET) on ESPN3.

Last Time Out
The Mountaineers gave the Trojans fits all evening on Thursday, but fell to Little Rock, 67-55. Joi Jones scored a conference-high 16 points on 8-for-16 shooting from the field. Madi Story registered her third double-double in the past four games with 11 points and a game-high 11 off the glass. Appalachian was outscored by 12 points in the second quarter but tied with first-place LR in the other three frames, 48-48.

What to Watch for
• Jones scored a conference-high 16 points against Little Rock on Thursday. It was the final nine games last season where she had her best stretch of the season, averaging 18.8 points, 4.4 rebounds and shot 51.5 percent from the field. See if Jones is starting to get it going around the same stretch as last season.

•  The Apps scored 29 points off of  26 turnovers against Arkansas State in the first matchup. See if the App defense can turnover an A-State team that has been averaging 19.1 turnovers in the past six games.

•  Appalachian scored 34 of its 55 points in the paint against Little Rock, which was the most since scoring 38 in the first game against the Trojans. App scored a season-high 54 paints against Arkansas State in the first game. See if App can get to the lane for easy buckets.

•  Bayley Plummer has averaged 8.2 rebounds per game to go along with a 6.2 per game scoring clip. Plummer notched nine points and six boards while shooting 4-for-5.  Plummer is averaging 8.3 points and six boards against the Arkansas schools. Anticipate on the freshman having another efficient performance on Saturday.

•  Arkansas State is second in 3-point field goal percentage shooting 35.9 percent. App held LR to a season-low 8.3 percent from beyond the arc. See if the Apps can stop the Red Wolves from going off from distance.

Scouting Arkansas State (5-17, 3-7 SBC)

• Arkansas State snapped a three-game losing streak with a 60-52 win over Coastal Carolina on Saturday.

• Madison Heckert came off the bench to lead three players in double-figures with 14 points on 5 of 8 shooting from the floor.

• Tahlon Hopkins led the Red Wolves with 13 rebounds to go along with nine points.

• A-State's leading scorer, Jada Ford, has missed the last eight games, but is averaging 11.9 point   per game.

• Dominique Oliver (10.8 ppg) and Akasha Westbrook (10.1 ppg) follow suit, while Lauren Bradshaw paces the team on the glass with 6.5 rpg.

• Arkansas State is second in conference play shooting 35.9 percent.

• The Red Wolves are fourth in the conference in field goal percentage at 37.3 percent.

• During the 3-7 stretch over the past 10 games, the Red Wolves allowed opponents to score at       least 70 points.

• A-State is second in the conference in pace at 75.6 according to natstat.com.

Series History

• App State is 3-5 all-time against the Red Wolves, snapping a four-game slide in th e first matchup with a 76-50 win at the Holmes Center.

• The 26-point win is the largest margin of victory against the Red Wolves this season by any Sun Belt opponent.

Bria Carter scored a career-high 20 points while Plummer notched her first career double-double with 10 points and 11 off the glass.

• Appalachian scored season highs in points in the paint (54), second-chance points (29) and points in the paint (29).

What's Next

App State will host both Georgia schools next week, beginning on Thursday at 7 p.m. against archrival Georgia Southern.
