BOONE, N.C. - Coming off of head coach Blake Mosley's first win against Western Carolina on Thursday, Appalachian State University women's tennis (1-3) will look to sweep the weekend against East Carolina on Saturday in Greenville, N.C. at the Birch Tennis Complex. App will then travel to Norfolk, Va. to face Old Dominion at 10 a.m. on Sunday.
The Black and Gold notched a 5-2 triumph yesterday against the Catamounts thanks to the all-around play in singles and doubles competition. Appalachian won a season-high four singles contests that helped it capture the win along with two wins in doubles action.
Appalachian is now 7-3 in doubles play with Gabrielle Wreder/Megan Mullen and Heidi Swope/McKayla Zupan both posting 3-1 marks so far this season.
In singles competition, Swope and Melissa Machado lead the team with two wins apiece. Mullen has a win while Rebecca Morse picked up her first win in the No. 1 slot yesterday against Western Carolina.
Scouting East Carolina (0-0)
ECU has yet to play a spring match this season but will open the slate against NC State today. The Pirates finished 17-9 in 2016 while owning a 6-1 record at home.
Scouting Old Dominion (2-1)
ODU is coming off a 4-1 win at Xavier its most recent outing. The other win came in the Monarchs' season opener against Temple, 6-1.Borislava Botusharova leads the team with a 3-0 mark while No. 97 Holly Hutchinson is 1-0 and Ingrid Vojcinakova boasts a 2-0 record.
Appalachian will continue the road trip on Saturday, Feb. 11 at Radford. First serve is set for 2 p.m.
